Local Priorities Cycle Theft Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding cycle theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Camberwell Green safer neighbourhood team were made aware that a victim of cycle theft had tracked his stolen cycle to an area on our ward. The team immediately visited the location and after a brief search of the area, we located a cycle that matched the victim's description. initial Identification was tricky as the victim didn't know the cycle's serial number and hadn't registered it! however, we were able to prove ownership with the Apple Air Tag and returned the cycle to it's rightful owner.

We encourage all cycle owners to register the serial number of their cycles with www.bikeregister.com it's completely free and it allows Police to prove ownership and return any recovered stolen cycles. Likewise, you can also register the serial numbers of electrical items like phones and laptops with crime prevention charity www.immobilise.com
